Our Vision
Lake Hills Church has the same vision today as we did when we launched in 1997. Our vision is to redefine church for the city of Austin and Beyond. What do we mean when we say REDEFINE Church? We use technology, a casual teaching style, and contemporary worship to bring God’s biblical truth to anyone and everyone. LHC’s front door is our weekend worship service. Casual, come-as-you-are, and engaging, we offer something for everyone genuinely seeking real connection with God and other people.
Our Purpose
As individual Christ followers in a church community, our purpose is to LOVE, LEAD, and LIVE. We LOVE God with everything we’ve got. We LEAD other people to Christ by loving them and sharing stories of God’s grace in our lives. We LIVE it out every day. We spend time with God every day so that we may have His grace, joy, peace, and love flowing out of our lives and into every relationship we have.
Brief History
Lake Hills Church, led by Mac and Julie Richard, began with a meeting of fifteen people in an Austin living room the summer of 1997. After initially holding services at Forest Trail and Valley View Elementary schools, Lake Hills Church moved into the Westlake High School Fine Arts Facility in September 1999 and met there through the beginning of 2005.
In January of 2005, we began meeting on our 40.5-acre campus on Bee Cave Road. From the original fifteen, we have grown to more than 3000 worshipers on an average weekend. God has truly been good.
Since its inception, the church has been about creativity and finding ways to express biblical truth in fresh and captivating ways. Our music is at once worshipful and engaging, played by musicians one would recognize from local Austin stages. Mac’s teaching is focused on the unchanging truth of scripture, but is presented in a style that captivates, educates, and challenges all at once. Professionally produced video and other creative elements round out our approach to worship.
In addition, our top-notch children’s programs provide more than just child care—they are a safe place where children can learn about God’s love through lessons, games, skits and more.
All in all, LHC is a place where singles, students, parents and their kids can worship, learn and do life together.
What we believe »
As much as we apply creativity and flexibility to our worship and the way we do life together as a church family, there are certain bedrock truths upon which we base our faith. You will learn much of who we are when you understand what we believe.
